My Avalon Story

For several months I knew a close friend struggled with his body image. It was apparent when he would attempt various diets, different exercise routines, and one time when I heard him purge after a meal we just had together. When we discussed the dangers to his body due to purging he was completely unaware of the risks associated with it. He opened up that during his service in the army, he started to purge regularly as a way to help lower his weight. It occurred to me then how many others are acting out similar behaviors without recognizing the dangers of having an ED. There have been others who have struggled in my life with ED, and many others who went entirely unnoticed.

Why do I work at Avalon? Because those people who have struggled with ED matter to me, and if I can help those with ED, even if it is largely filling out paperwork in an office, I will. Without the hardworking staff that all work together to help treat our patients, Avalon would not be able to support the Treat to Outcome philosophy. Everyone at Avalon plays a key role, and we have the right people in the right seats on the bus for Avalon to move forward.
