Gary L. Roberts — Founder/COO
Mr. Roberts is one of the original founders of Avalon Hills. He came to Avalon Hills with a background in therapeutic experiential groups and activities, specializing in wilderness counseling and risk management in these areas. During the earlier years of Avalon Hills, Mr. Roberts had oversight functions in the budget planning process, marketing, personnel management, facility management, admissions, program development/implementation, as well as participating in all phases of the business growth and development. Currently, Mr. Roberts has oversight and participation in a wide variety of responsibilities over the organization including 1) patient care; 2) physical plant; 3) quality improvement; 4) and executive administration. As a member of the Governing Body, Mr. Roberts is a little unique in that he participates in all day to day operations across the organization, and works with the Executive Team, Management Staff, and Quality Improvement staff to improve the quality of patient services and business operations across the organization. Mr. Roberts, as an owner and founder, can be found anywhere in the organization participating in day to day operations and administration. In the Avalon Hills organization, Mr. Roberts's functions as the “Sam Walton” of Avalon Hills; he will perform any role to see how it impacts the quality of the services we deliver to our clients and their families, as well as to see how situations impact staff, animals, facilities, business performance, and any other aspect of the Avalon Hills organization. Mr. Roberts' down to earth persona, in conjunction with his commitment to excellence and pride in his program, facilitates genuine dialogue and quality improvement between the administrative, business, and patient services staff, and the Stakeholders of Avalon Hills. Mr. Roberts is a member of the Avalon Hills Executive Team and Governing Body.
