Mel Eppich - Exercise Specialist
Mel Eppich graduated from Utah State University in May 2006 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Parks and Recreation and an emphasis in Recreational Therapy.
Following graduation, Mel took a summer position working on a ranch in Jackson Hole, WY as a Wrangler and Office Manager. When that position ended in October of 2006, she returned to South East Idaho to help with her family’s business. Mel was married in January of 2007 and took a position at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center's Behavioral Health Center as a Recreational Therapy Technician while also working part time as a fitness consultant at the Apple Athletic Club. These positions satisfied some of Mel's greatest joys: helping others, teaching, being physically active, and enjoying the outdoors.
Two and a half years later Mel was missing the Utah Mountains and applied for the Exercise Specialist position at Avalon Hills with some reluctance to leave a job she truly loved. She feared never finding another job as good as her last; these fears were quickly dispelled as Avalon Hills proved to fulfill all the joys of her last job and much more.
Mel is passionate about helping others understand what "healthy exercise" really means and working with the patients to develop a healthy relationship with physical activity that they can incorporate into their own personal fitness plans. Mel takes an approach of “fitness for life” and “fitness for fun” and feels that physical activity and recreation should go hand in hand. She continually strives to give the girls a variety of activity options to help open their eyes to things they may have never imagined they could enjoy.
Mel loves nature and the outdoors and finds great joy and power in the beauty that Cache Valley offers. Her favorite moments are those spent in the mountains with her husband and boxer puppy.
